MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 28-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a man found shot to death in south Minneapolis.
On Monday, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office charges Maureen Ndidiamaka Onyelobi of Minneapolis with second-degree murder.
According to authorities, officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired on the 2700 block of Longfellow Avenue South, shortly after 10 p.m. on March 8.
Upon arrival, they found a man in the street lying against a snow bank with apparent gunshot wounds. He was already dead.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 23-year-old Anthony Lee Fairbanks of Minneapolis. He died from a gunshot wound to the head. His death has been ruled homicide.
According to Onyelobi’s criminal complaint, she was the last person to talk to Fairbanks and was concerned with him talking to police about her recent drug arrest. Police also discovered she had visited her storage locker before the shooting to grab a 9mm handgun in a safe.
If convicted, Onyelobi faces up to 40 years in prison.
